Esther Mae Sechrest, 90, of Effingham, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home.

Esther Mae was born on June 26, 1923, in Huntington County, IN, the daughter of Ratio and Florence (Parsley) Wilson. She married Ross E. Sechrest in 1947, and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1998.
During World War II, Esther Mae worked for Western Union as a telegragher. She was very active in Boy Scouts and then in Girl Scouts. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Effingham, the quilters group and Esther Circle of the church. She was also very active in church where she was in the choir for many years. Esther and Ross loved to travel and made it to all 50 states during their marriage. In her later years, she loved to take bus trips and cruises. Family vacations were very special for her. After Ross’s retirement, they spent winters in California with her brother Keith and family.
Esther Mae is survived by her daughters, Janelle (Erwin) McCulloch and Jeanlyn (Steve) Stockman, both of Effingham; brother, Wayne Wilson of Huntington, IN; grandchildren, Darren Pruemer (special friend, Debbie Cassano) of New Orleans, LA, Amanda Pruemer (special friend, Derrick McCoy) of Effingham, Jennifer Pruemer (special friend, Clint Wilson) of Effingham, Bayleigh Stockman of Effingham; great- grandson, Thaddeus McCoy; and great-granddaughter, Lorelai Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Roger, brothers, Keith Wilson and Darrell Wilson.
